A new app designed by a group of American comedians will allow friends who go out to eat together to split their tabs fairly -- perhaps excessively so -- as it is determined based on privilege.

EquiTable divvies up how much each person should pay, based on gender and race wage gaps. It debuted at the 2016 Comedy Hack Day competition, AlterNet reports.

As a white male, you can expect to pay more than all women and people of color with whom you are splitting the tab.

“EquiTable helps you avoid the entrenched discrimination that exists in our society. It doesn't split the bill equally—it splits it equitably. You pay what you should to balance out the wage gap,” the app’s website details.

When the bill comes to your table, the app allows you to select the friends you are with, and uses  “Bureau of Labor Statistics data and maths,” to decide how much each person owes.

“When dining out with a high privilege group, EquiTable automatically adds a Pay It Forward Surcharge. This fee subsidizes meals for others and funds EquiTable's charitable arm. Thanks!” EquiTable asserts on their website.

Don’t like having to pay extra for your privilege? The app has a “protest” option where you can select your reasoning from a list of justifications, including: “I pulled myself up from my bootstraps,” “Started from the bottom” and, “This isn’t an issue anymore.” If you choose the last option, you will get a lesson from the app that begins with “First of all, let me explain a few things, boo.”

For those who aren’t amused by the app, the founder, comedian Luna Malbroux, suggests they download the app and use the built in protest function.
