GENEVA (Sputnik) — UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Sunday paid a courtesy visit to both Syrian government delegation and the delegation of Syrian opposition from the High Negotiations Committee (HNC).
"It was a courtesy visit. It is a tradition to meet delegations. I met with the [Syrian] government and the HNC. We have just outlined the program," De Mistura told reporters.
De Mistura also confirmed that that the talks between the sides will start on Monday.
On Saturday, the HNC delegation arrived in Geneva to take part in the upcoming intra-Syrian talks, which will be held between March 14 and 24. The Damascus delegation arrived earlier in the day.
