GENEVA (Sputnik) — Syrian opposition's High Negotiations Committee (HNC) intends to seek a political solution to the crisis in the country but not a military one, HNC spokesman Salem Meslet said Sunday.
"We came to Geneva seeking a political solution with the help of negotiations and not through war. We want to see an end to the suffering of the Syrian people that lasts for more than 5 years," Meslet told reporters.
On Monday, another round of intra-Syrian talks between the opposition and the government is set to start in Geneva.
"We hope that the peace agreement will be reached soon, as our people are waiting for it," the spokesman added.
