US-Led Coalition Conducts 1 Strike in Syria, 13 in Iraq
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) The US-led coalition carried out 15 airstrikes on Sunday against Daesh terrorists embedded in Syria and Iraq targeting the group’s fighting positions, bunkers, rocket rails and more, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced in a press release.

"In Syria, coalition military forces conducted four strikes using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets," CENTCOM said Monday. "Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 11 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets."

Coalition forces in Syria launched four airstrikes near the cities of Manbij and Mara, which hit several IS tactical units and fighting positions and destroyed vehicles.

Meanwhile in Iraq, almost a dozen airstrikes in and around seven Iraqi cities destroyed IS rocket rails, tunnel entrances, vehicles and a bulldozer.

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been carrying out airstrikes against the Islamic State, also known as Daesh, first in Iraq and later Syria since 2014 — albeit without the approval of the Syrian government or the UN Security Council.
