MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The local police discovered the group when they were examining a mobile phone of a detained sex offender.
"When we were going through Rizal's text messages, we found conversations about Daesh with the four suspects and Abu Sumatra," Padang Sidempuan Police Chief Helmi Lubis said Monday, as quoted by the Straits Times newspaper.
Helmi added that the four suspects have been arrested on March 11, while Abu Sumatra, the cell’s leader, remains at large.
Indonesia remains the homeland of the largest percentage of the fighters of the Daesh, a group outlawed in Russia and many other countries, originating from Southeast Asia.
