GENEVA (Sputnik) — The Syrian government delegation headed by ambassador Bashar Jaafari has arrived at the UN Office in Geneva to meet with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, a Sputnik correspondent reported Wednesday.
The government's plan has eight points, but opposition's High Negotiations Committee (HNC) said it was unaware of the specific content of those proposals.
The Swiss city of Geneva currently hosts proximity talks between the Syrian opposition and the government's delegation to put an end to the deadly civil war.
The indirect talks revolve around the transitional political process for Syria. Opposition HNC is willing to see the establishment of a transitional governing body with full executive powers, while the government considers it unacceptable.
