GENEVA (Sputnik) — The Syrian government's delegation is calling on UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura to create a special mechanism to monitor and prevent irresponsible behavior from other participants of the intra-Syrian talks in Geneva, the delegation's head Bashar Jaafari told Sputnik on Wednesday.
"Another problem [in the course of the talks] is how to monitor and control irresponsible statements emanating from here and there within the delegation of the so-called Saudi group [High Negotiations Committee opposition]. These are irresponsible and provocative statements from the chief negotiator of the Saudi group [Mohammed Alloush, leader of Jaysh al-Islam]. We ask the Special Envoy to work out a mechanism to control and monitor these kinds of irresponsible statements," Jaafari said.
Similar remarks are considered, according to the Security Council resolutions 1924, 1989, 2178, 2199, a violation of the Security Council's will to combat terrorism, he noted.
"Such statements are considered, according to the SC resolutions, an incitement to terrorism. Anybody who does that should be held accountable to the SC for not behaving responsibly," Jaafari stressed.
