KIEV (Sputnik) — A Kiev district court extended on Monday until May 19 the custody of two Russian nationals captured in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine last year while allegedly fighting on the side of the Donbass militia.
Kiev authorities claim that Alexander Aleksandrov and Yevgeni Yerofeyev were serving in the Russian military at the time of their capture in the Luhansk region, while the Russian military says both men were not on active duty and traveled to Ukraine on their own volition.
"Extend the custody [of Aleksandrov and Yerofeev] until May 19, 2016," a judge announced the ruling during the hearings.
Next hearings in the case have been set for April 5.
