ASTANA, March 22 (Sputnik) — Kazakhstan's Nur Otan party, led by the country's President Nursultan Nazarbayev, has received 82.2 percent of votes in snap parliament elections, the head of the Kazakh Central Election Commission said Tuesday citing final results.
"Nur Otan received 82.2 percent of votes, CPPK [Communist People's Party] received 7.14 percent, Ak Zhol received 7.18 percent, Birlik received 0.29 percent, the Nationwide Social Democratic Party received 1.18 percent, Auyl received 2.01 percent," Kuandyk Turgankulov told reporters.
The Parliament of the central Asian republic consists of two Chambers, Senate and Mazhilis.
The Mazhilis consists of 105 deputies, 98 of whom are elected directly from party lists according to the system of proportional representation. Members of the Parliament are elected for five year term.
