WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The United States and South Korea have reached an agreement in principle to deploy the THAAD missile defense system to the Korean Peninsula to deter Pyongyang, US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said in congressional testimony on Tuesday.
“To answer your question about [deploying] THAAD on the Korean peninsula… we are discussing that with the Koreans [and] we have a principle in agreement to do that,” Carter stated.
