MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Pyongyang's actions should not be used by other countries as an excuse for building up military potentials in the region as the common goal should be to reduce tensions on the Korean Peninsula, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a news conference following talk with US State Secretary John Kerry in Moscow.
"During our morning talks, we discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula with accent on the need to ease tensions caused by nuclear tests, missile launches that have been carried out by North Korea," Lavrov said.
"Russia's position remains unchanged: irresponsible actions by Pyongyang must not be used as an excuse for inadequate and disproportional reaction in the form of boosting the military potential in north-Eastern Asia," he stressed.
