MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Russian State Duma adopted a decree urging lawmakers of Europe, North America, Middle East, Central Asia and other regions to support Russia’s efforts in creating an international anti-terrorism coalition.
"I think this is not real to create such a coalition now with the participation of both Russia and the US, because their global differences are huge. The US wants Europe to be as weak as possible and divided and isolated from Russia," Volen Siderov said.
He noted that terrorism was created by the United States "which dates back to the 1980ies through the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan, who then labeled themselves as Al Qaeda and now call themselves the Islamic State."
Russian President Vladimir Putin has long called for the creation of a broad international coalition to fight terrorism, particularly Daesh jihadist group, including at the UN General Assembly in September 2015.
