BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Wednesday called on the European Union to introduce a visa-free regime for citizens of the Central Asian nation who wish to make short-term journeys to the 28-nation bloc.
Earlier in the day, Nazarbayev held a meeting with EU leaders, including European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk in Brussels.
"I asked Mr. Juncker to introduce a visa-free regime for our citizens, similar to the one that has been introduced by Kazakhstan for Europeans — 15 and 30 days," Nazarbayev said following meeting with Juncker.
He added that the sides found common ground on all the issues discussed during the meeting.
On Tuesday, Nazarbayev arrived in Belgium on a working visit to meet the country's leadership, as well as the EU leaders.
