MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A whopping 82 percent of Russians approve of Vladimir Putin’s work as Russian president, while over half of the population believes their country is moving in the right direction, the latest opinion poll revealed on Wednesday.
Among 1,600 people surveyed by the Levada-Center pollster about whether they approve or disapprove of Putin’s performance as president, some 17 percent of those surveyed expressed a negative view of his work, while 1 percent could not provide an answer.
The Russian leader’s March 2015 approval rating stood at 85 percent.
Fifty-one percent of those surveyed responded positively to a question on whether Russia was moving in the right direction, while 30 percent said they believe the country was headed down the wrong path.
Levada’s survey was conducted through personal interviews in respondents’ homes in 137 towns and cities across 48 Russian regions on March 25-28.
A previous poll by the same organization published last week found that two-thirds of the Russian public want Putin to be reelected to serve a fourth term in office.
