WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The prime minister emphasized the importance of international cooperation to ensure nuclear security as well as the danger of terrorists obtaining nuclear materials as factors in his decision.
"Canada’s going to step up its investments by $42 million to work with states and bilateral relationships, but also with the IAEA, to invest in nuclear security around the world," Trudeau stated.
He argued that states must affirm they are working in solid partnerships across borders "to ensure that nuclear security remains a high priority."
Trudeau joined more than 50 other world leaders at the Nuclear Security Summit, which is taking place from March 31 to April 1 in the US capital.
