President Poroshenko went to Washington at a moment when the Ukrainian government was on the brink of being overhauled, with opposition to Prime Minister Yatsenyuk growing in leaps and bounds. While this is going on, there are reports that hostilities in Donbass region are heating up just in time for the spring fighting season, and two years since “EuroMaidan”, Ukraine is not a single step closer to the EU than it was under President Yanukovich.
Inflation is through the roof and the economy is tatters, which is why Poroshenko has more than enough to talk about as he meets with the American Vice-President and gets instructions for how to proceed during the tumultuous coming months.
To discuss this in more detail we were joined by Vladimir Sotnikov, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies and analysis “Russia-East-West” (studio guest) and Kirill Koktysh, Associate Professor at MGIMO-University (Moscow).
