The Armenian Defense Ministry called Baku's reports of Armenia's great losses in the Karabakh conflict "misinformation".

YEREVAN (Sputnik) – The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied reports from Baku of extensive human and military equipment losses in Nagorno-Karabakh, calling the reports misinformation.

Earlier, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry press spokesman Vagif Dargahli said the Armenian side had suffered great losses in both human lives and equipment.

“This is yet more misinformation that the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has yet to stop giving regularly…I can only note that the Armenian side, in contrast to the Azerbaijani side, does not hide its losses and reports of them clearly and concisely,” Armenian Defense Ministry press spokesman Artsrun Ovannisyan told RIA Novosti.

Armenia Violates Ceasefire, Uses Heavy Artillery - Azerbaijani MoD
On April 2, Azerbaijan and Armenia reported intensified fighting in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region. The sides accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement which had been in place since 1994.

The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh began in 1988, when the Armenian-dominated autonomous region sought to secede from the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, before proclaiming independence after the Soviet Union's collapse in 1991. In September 2015, the conflict escalated, with the sides blaming each other for breaching the truce.
