Famous football coach Jose Mourinho isn’t a man who sits too long without a job. This time he might lead the Syrian national football team after being offered the position of a head coach, Goal.com reported.

The Syrian Football Association (FA) invited Mourinho, nicknamed the Special One, to take charge of their national team.

"After a meeting between the president of the Syrian Football Federation; Salahuddin Ramadan, the vice-president of the Syrian Union Chairman of the national teams, the director of the first team, Fadi Dabbas and secretary-general of the Syrian Football Federation Qutaiba al-Rifaiit, it was agreed to send a formal offer to the agency of the coach Jose Mourinho to train the Syrian national football team," a post on the official Facebook page of the Syrian FA said.

While the Syrian national football team might not exactly be Manchester United FC with which he was previously linked, it is a coaching job on a national level.

Chelsea Sacks Jose Mourinho as Football Club's Manager
The "Special One" has been out of job since last December when Chelsea FC, owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, sacked the Portuguese coach after a long series of losses very uncharacteristic for Mourinho.

Despite his recent misfortunate, Mourinho proved to be one of the best coaches in the history of football after winning a major trophy during every season at all the clubs he managed between 2003 and 2012.

Although football is very popular in Syria, the war-torn country has never been a football giant. Syria has never even qualified for the final stage of a World Cup.

But the country's chances to qualify or even successfully perform in future World Cups might increase tenfold if the Syrian FA ends up actually signing Mourinho.
