MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Iran delivers to Europe 35 percent of its daily oil production, reaching the highest amount since the introduction of world sanctions over its nuclear activities in 2011, Seyed Mohsen Ghamsari, the head of international affairs at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), said Friday.
The NIOC official refused to specify the exact volume of Iran’s oil exports, stating that the statistics were not yet stable at the moment, according to the Mehr news agency.
In February, NIOC head Roknoddin Javadi said Iran aimed to raise its daily oil exports to 4.7 million barrels per day after emerging out of energy-related sanctions following the verification of Tehran’s compliance with last summer’s landmark nuclear deal.
However, Tehran has agreed to freeze oil output to offset declining prices once its production reached 4 million barrels per day. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) estimates Iran’s current oil production at around 3.1 million barrels per day.
