The documentary also contains an extract from an alleged tip-off by a CIA employee advising Browder to secure termination of medical assistance to a legal consultant for Hermitage Capital Management, Sergei Magnitsky, who died of heart failure in 2009 while in custody where he was being held on tax evasion charges.
Alleged links between the opposition figure and the United States and the United Kingdom were revealed by the former long-time head of businessman Boris Berezovsky's security, Sergei Sokolov during an interview with Rossiya-1 channel’s Vesti Nedeli. Sokolov claiming that he had obtained access to data from servers originating in Ukraine, said "absolutely clear" evidence existed suggesting Navalny and Browder were connected.
The documentary referring to an alleged tip-off to the CIA head dated September 20, 2009 also suggests Browder "purpotedly through confidants in Russia's penitentiary system was offered to arrange termination of any medical assistance to Magnitsky."
"Health deterioration will be registered as a medical error, which may lead to his death. I hereby request to pay particular attention to this information," the channel cited the alleged tip-off not mentioning though whether Browder made use of this recommendation.
Magnitsky was detained in 2008 and accused of conspiracy and abatement for tax evasion by a group of individuals. He died in the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center in Moscow on November 16, 2009.
