"There is heavy shelling on the neighborhood of Sheikh Maqsoud… the neighborhood was bombarded with missiles and bombers in the morning… The bombing is… filled with poison gas. It happens today, in Aleppo," Mohamed said.
On Thursday, April 7, spokesman for Syrian Kurds told Sputnik that gas poisoning cases had been reported among the civilian population and Kurdish militias after an attack on Aleppo by Islamic militants.
The Jaysh al-Islam militant group took responsibility for the shelling of Sheikh Maqsoud and stated that it had deployed "forbidden" weapons. The group, however, did not specify whether it used chemical agents.
Asked whether the same factions and brigades of Syrian opposition that attacked Aleppo's district last week were responsible for the attack, Mohamed responded affirmatively.
During Monday's attack militants used hand made bombs called Jahanamiya, which in Arabic means "hell," Mohamed said.
