GENEVA (Sputnik) – The second meeting at the ongoing intra-Syria talks between the opposition High Negotiations Committee (HNC) and UN Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura kicked off in Geneva, a Sputnik correspondent reported Friday.
Earlier in the week delegation head Asaad al-Zoubi told reporters HNC is willing to discuss political transition primarily during a meeting with de Mistura.
The first meeting between the sides took place on April 13.
Earlier in the day, the UN envoy met with the head of the government delegation and Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bashar Jaafari. He also convened with the Moscow-Cairo opposition group.
Parties to the Intra-Syrian talks are expected to voice their position on the 12-point proposals from de Mistura on the political settlement that they received at the end of the March round of talks.
