WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – A senior leader of Daesh, Salman Abu Shabib al-Jebouri, died in a joint US-Kurdish counterterrorism operation conducted on Monday south of the Iraqi city of Mosul, Kurdistan Region Security Council said in a Twitter message.

Al-Jebouri, also known as Abu Saif, was a member of Daesh’ military council responsible for terrorist activities in South Mosul and Makhmour, according to the council.
Daesh controls large areas of Syria and Iraq and is banned in many countries, including Russia. The group is notorious for its brutality and human rights violations, as well as for recruiting people from all over the world via social networks.
