MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – About 100,000 people took part in the Thursday demonstration which coincided with the second day of mourning for Chile’s former president Patricio Aylwin, 24 Horas TV said citing estimates from the University of Chile Student Federation (Fech).
The students were demanding reforms of the higher education system.
Clashes with police erupted when some of the protesters went beyond the fenced-off designated march area, 24 Horas said. Some traffic lights and bus stops were damaged.
There have been no official reports on detainees.
