If there is no progress of decisions related to the humanitarian aid, humanitarian access, liberation of women and children and full adherence to the ceasefire in Syria, the Syrian opposition’s High Negotiations Committee (HNC) will not take part in the May round of reconciliation talks, according to HNC spokesman.

HNC Departure From Geneva ‘Act of Pressure’
GENEVA (Sputnik) – The Syrian opposition’s High Negotiations Committee (HNC) will not take part in the next round of talks on resolving the crisis in the country if there is no progress in the humanitarian situation and adherence to ceasefire, its spokesman told Sputnik on Friday.

Earlier this week, HNC postponed its participation in the latest round of the talks in protest of the ongoing violence in Syria for which they blame the Syrian government.

"If there is no progress of decisions related to the humanitarian aid, humanitarian access, liberation of women and children and full adherence to the ceasefire, we shall not take part in the May round," Monzer Makhous said.

HNC May Return to Geneva Talks if Sees Progress on Humanitarian Deliveries
According to the official, another issue concerning his delegation is the need for a political process with full transition of powers from the current government to a new one.

"When we raised this issue at the talks here with [head of Damascus delegation Bashar] Jaafari, he said ‘yes, we agree for a political transition, within the framework of the so-called expanded government in which we are ready to offer some posts for the opposition,’" Makhous explained, adding that HNC believed this to be unacceptable.
