US Set to Allocate $4Mln to Assist in Ukrainian Customs Service Reform

The United States will give $4 million to attract international advisers to carry out reform of the Ukrainian Customs Service, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danylyuk said Monday.

KIEV (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, Danylyuk met with US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt to discuss pressing issues of further cooperation between the Finance Ministry and the US government.

"The US government, along with the Finance Ministry, will continue to implement a two-year program of funding the consulting services to reform the Ukrainian Customs Service, initiated by the previous [Finance] Minister Natalia Yaresko. As part of this program, the United States will provide $4 million to attract international advisers, who will help introduce the world’s highest quality service at the Ukrainian Customs," the finance minister wrote on his Facebook page.

IMF Counts on New Ukraine Gov’t to Continue Reforms
Danylyuk was appointed as Ukraine’s Finance Minister in the new Cabinet of Ministers proposed by Prime Minister Volodomyr Groysman and President Petro Poroshenko in mid-April.

The new Cabinet is set to concentrate on 17 key areas of reforms, including the reform of the national security and defense systems, the restoration of territorial integrity, constitutional amendments, energy reform and energy independence, social and humanitarian activity as well as economic development acceleration.
