The hero who saved both mother and a child from the burning car turned out to be a 25-year-old man who accidently drove his vehicle head-on into the woman's car.
The vehicles collided after the man tried to overtake another car on Wednesday night, police said. As a result of the incident, the woman and the child were seriously injured, while the driver was only slightly wounded, German magazine Spiegel Online reported.
Although, initially, the young man was the one who caused the accident, he partly redeemed his mistake by saving the lives of two people while risking his own.
Right after the crash, the 25-year-old ran to the car of the victims which was set on fire. The young man managed to retrieve the child and the woman out of the car before the vehicle burst into flames.
