Kerry to Discuss Syrian Ceasefire With Lavrov in a Phone Call
De Mistura and Lavrov are due to meet on Tuesday. Earlier, Russian envoy to the United Nations in Geneva Alexey Borodavkin said that the two officials plan to discuss the results of the latest round of Syrian peace talks in Geneva and possibilities of their further development.

The latest round of intra-Syrian talks came to an end on Wednesday without succeeding to reach an agreement or establishing direct negotiations between the Syrian opposition and Damascus. A fresh round of talks has not been scheduled so far.

Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups. A US-Russia-brokered ceasefire came into force across Syria on February 27.
