WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton took a strong 27-point lead over her challenger Senator Bernie Sanders in early results from the primary election in the US Midwestern state of Indiana.
With one percent of the vote counted, Clinton had 63.8 percent of the vote compared to 36.2 percent for Sanders, according to official results.
Clinton retains a clear lead over Sanders both in the popular vote and the number of delegates she has won in the contest to become the Democratic presidential candidate at the party’s national convention in Philadelphia in July.
