BAKU (Sputnik) – The European Union is doing everything possible to ensure that the Southern Gas Corridor project will be implemented in time, and the implementation of this project and first gas deliveries to Italy are the EU priority, Malena Mard told journalists.
The SGC project is one of the EU priorities and aimed at delivering 10 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan to Europe via Georgia and Turkey.
According to the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry, the SGC project is expected to be completed in 2019. The pipeline which represents a total investment of more than $45 billion, will provide additional natural gas to Europe and Turkey.
