MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Three bomb blasts in Baghdad killed over 80 people and injured at least 140, according to various reports. The Islamic State terrorist organization took responsibility for the attacks.
"We strongly condemn these barbaric crimes aimed at destabilizing the situation in Iraq and worsening the religious conflict in that friendly country," the ministry said in a statement.
"This tragedy reaffirms the need to unite the efforts of regional countries and the whole international community in the fight against extremists regardless of where they are," the statement said.
There were no immediate reports of terrorist groups claiming responsibility for the attack, but Daesh group, banned in Russia and many other countries, said earlier this May they were behind a car bomb blast that killed 18 Shiite pilgrims in Baghdad. The radical Daesh group considers Shiites to be apostates.
