"Gerard Bapt, chairman of the France-Syria Friendship Group in the National Assembly, condemns the murder of Alawite families of Al-Zara village in Hama province perpetrated by terrorist groups – namely Ahrar ash-Sham, Jaysh al-Islam, Ajuda Homs (formerly known as Al Faruk) – which agreed to a ceasefire," the politician told Sputnik.
Bapt pointed out that while the male residents of the village were murdered and their bodies were cast into the Rastan lake, 115 civilians – women and children – were forcibly taken to Rastan.
"The recent initiative to officially add Ahrar ash-Sham and Jaysh al-Islam to the list of terrorist organizations was not supported by the UN Security Council due to the fact that five Western countries have disagreed. The governments of said countries, including the French government, must take the appropriate measures in Riyadh and within the framework of the High Negotiation Committee in Vienna to ensure the immediate liberation of civilians who were taken hostage," he added.
On May 12, terrorists carried out an attack against the village of al-Zara, located in Syria's Hama province, slaughtering local residents and abducting women and children. The attack took place early in the morning while the villagers were asleep, although several of the locals managed to flee the massacre.
