NEW YORK (Sputnik) — An operator of Olympic sporting venues in the US state of New York is cognizant of the US Department of Justice investigation into the Russian Olympic doping scandal, New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) spokesperson Jon Lundin told Sputnik.
"We are aware of the investigation," Lundin said on Tuesday. "Right now nobody has approached us [regarding the investigation]."
Earlier on Tuesday, US media reported that the Justice Department launched a probe into new allegations of doping by Russian athletes during the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Earlier in May, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced its intention to investigate allegations of doping misconduct at the Sochi laboratory during the 2014 Olympics.
Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said the claims about Russian athletes’ doping at the 2014 Olympics were "absurd," and added that a detailed official response was yet to come.
Russian authorities have promised to carry out a clean-up program to fulfill WADA’s demands in order for Russian athletes to be allowed to participate in the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.
