WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – A majority of Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters trust presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump more than US House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan to lead the Republican Party, a NBC News/Survey Monkey poll revealed on Tuesday.
"Nearly six in ten trust the presumptive Republican presidential nominee [Trump] to lead the Republican Party over the House Speaker [Ryan]; nearly 4 in ten trust the speaker more," the poll noted.
The poll was conducted online between May 9 and May 15, and has a margin of error of 1.2 percentage points.
Despite a meeting between Trump and top Republican Party leaders on Thursday, including Ryan, the speaker has yet to endorse Trump as the party’s nominee for the US presidency.
Trump will accept the Republican party’s formal nomination at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio in July.
