OSCE: East Ukraine's Donbass Showing Signs of 'Frozen Conflict'
ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) — Russia supports the draft resolution of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), which stipulates a general lifting of international sanctions imposed on lawmakers, the head of the lower house of Russian parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee said Thursday.

"We will continue to raise the issue that the OSCE PA should express support for the general principle of lifting sanctions from parliamentarians… It remains our principal position," Alexei Pushkov told RIA Novosti.

According to Pushkov, this issue will be discussed at the OSCE PA’s 2016 Annual Session, that is set to be held in Tbilisi on July 1-5.

"In general, the OSCE PA leadership and many members of the Parliamentary Assembly, support us on this. I know that a draft resolution is being prepared, the author is Filippo Lombardi from Switzerland," the Russian official said.

Western countries introduced sanctions on Russia, including entry bans on certain Russian officials, after the Ukrainian conflict escalated in 2014. Brussels, Washington and their allies blamed Moscow for its alleged interference in the crisis in eastern Ukraine, claims the Kremlin has repeatedly denied.
