MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The number of settlements that have joined ceasefire regime in Syria has increased to 113, while the number of ceasefire violations in the country has reached nine over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday.
"The total number of inhabited areas, the leaders of which had signed reconciliation agreements, has reached 113. Within last 24 hours, 9 ceasefire violations have been registered [in Syria] (Damascus province – 7, Aleppo province – 2)," the ministry said in a daily bulletin posted on its website.
According to the bulletin, the situation in the vicinity of Palmyra has aggravated.
"Units of the Syrian government troops repelled numerous attempts of militants, who took efforts to capture strategic heights," the bulletin continued.
According to the bulletin, Syria's government forces have also repulsed al-Nusra Front's attempts to advance in the province of Latakia near Hashhasha, Haddada and Hard Mezdly localities.
