According to the information obtained by the German Spiegel magazine, Athens plans to start the evacuation of a jungle refugee camp on Tuesday morning.
The magazine added that during the operation that would last for three days, refugees would be relocated to the vicinity of the Greek city of Thessaloniki to provide them with proper health services and housing.
The EU states are currently struggling to deal with a refugee influx, with hundreds of thousands of people fleeing conflict-torn countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The Mediterranean Sea is one of the main transit routes for refugees heading for Greece from the Turkish territory.
Idomeni became residence for over 10,000 of refugees, as Macedonia, along with its Balkan neighbours, introduced border restrictions for refugees.
