"I request the Defense Ministry, which was charged by the Russian prime minister back on March 1, 2013, to prepare a draft decree for the Russian government by the forth quarter of 2015, to inform on the progress in determination of the position of straight baselines along the Arctic coast. It is necessary to complete this work," Dmitry Rogozin told the commission's meeting.
Rogozin added that the issue was important for the determination of the territorial sea, exclusive economic zone and the Russian continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean.
The chairman stressed that the current border line had been determined back in the Soviet Union and did not correspond to the modern geographical situation and the fundamental Russian interests in the Arctic region.
