TOKYO (Sputnik) — On Friday, Obama laid a wreath at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, dedicated to the victims of the US 1945 atomic bombing. It was the first visit of the incumbent US president to the city since the World War II.
According to the poll conducted by the Japanese Kyodo news agency, 98 percent of those surveyed answered that the visit was a positive move.
The survey was conducted on Saturday and Sunday, and covered some 1,470 households that provided valid responses from more than a thousand of people.
Meanwhile, according to a recent CBS News poll, 43 percent of US residents spoke in favor of the United States’ nuclear attack of Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II, while 44 percent of the surveyed disapproved of the bombing.
