ANKARA (Sputnik) – Earlier on Monday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu proposed creating a joint working group on normalizing relations with Russia.
"We had no intentions of downing the Russian jet. We expect that our relations with Russia will be improved in the near future. Neither Russia, nor Turkey can sacrifice them. Between [our] two countries there are no problems which one cannot solve," Kurtulmus said at a briefing in Ankara.
Russian-Turkish relations deteriorated following the downing of a Russian Su-24 aircraft by a Turkish F-16 fighter in Syria on November 24, 2015.
