MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia is ready to support Kenya in various fields of peaceful nuclear energy, namely construction of power plants, scientific and technical cooperation in the field, training of specialists, preparation of the necessary legal and regulatory framework.
The memorandum was signed by the Russia's Rosatom Deputy Director Nikolai Spasskiy and Deputy Head of the Kenyan Embassy to Russia Hillary N. Kyengo.
The memorandum involves the creation of a working group to identify the peaceful atom joint projects. The parties will also continue consultations on the possibility of building the first nuclear power plant in Kenya, according to the Russian project. The parties have also agreed to start consultations on the preparation of the intergovernmental agreement on the peaceful atom cooperation.
The ATOMEXPO 2016 forum is taking place between May 30 and June 1 in Moscow, and is organized as an exhibition and business platform to bring together representatives from the world's leaders in nuclear power.
