EEU Heads of State Discuss Cooperation With EU, China - Kazakh President

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – He noted that today’s decisions should give additional impetus to the activities of the EEU and should lead to the strengthening of economic relations between states. He stated that the cooperation within the EEU framework allows countries to "create favorable conditions for joint economic development."

"The agenda for today's meeting is intense; it contains aspects of both internal and international cooperation. I want to note the importance of the issues we have discussed during the meeting in a narrow format and firstly that is the initiation of cooperation between the EEU and the EU, as well as the launch of negotiations with China," Nazarbayev said.

Nazarbayev added the cooperation with India, Israel, Egypt, Iran, Cambodia and many other countries were further discussed.

According to him, "the combined market of the EEU must become a bridge between the East and the West, the North and the South."

This Tuesday’s EEU Supreme Council Meeting is the fourth meeting of EEU member states’ heads and is attended by the presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

The Russia-led EEU, in existence since January 2015, provides for the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor among its five member states.
