After winning an election based on a platform promising a ‘seven day NHS,’ the Conservative party now seeks to deliver on this promise but on a five-day week NHS budget. The resulting burden on NHS staff has been historic strikes, doctors abandoning the NHS for jobs abroad and an overall discontent. Double Down talks to Dr. Youssef el-Gingihy to discuss the dismantling of the national health service to make way for a US-style privatised system.
