MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The deployment of NATO missile defense systems in Europe is not directed against Russia, focusing instead on threats from beyond Europe and north Atlantic region, French President Francois Hollande said Friday.
"NATO's missile defense is not directed against Russia, it will not impact Russia's strategic deterrence capacity. Its sole purpose is to defend the alliance against potential threats arising from outside the Euro-Atlantic zone. This is something that we should say once again ahead of the Warsaw meeting," Hollande said during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
