MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Soviet Information Bureau, that evolved into Press Agency Novosti, RIA Novosti and Rossiya Segodnya, was founded on June 24, 1941.
"Over the years they have been representing our country in the international media space with honor, and have always sought efficiency and thoroughness in their work," Putin said at the New Era of Journalism: Farewell to Mainstream forum at the news agency.
He also noted the multitude of awards received by the agency’s journalists.
"I sincerely wish the staff of Rossiya Segodnya to hold the bar high and, of course, preserve and develop the rich traditions of Russian journalism," the president added.

Vladimir Putin also noted Tuesday that the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency was developing its bureaus abroad in a dynamic fashion.
Rossiya Segodnya is an international media group, whose mission is to cover world events in a prompt, balanced, and unbiased manner, and provide alternative views on global issues. It combines radio broadcasts and newswires in English, Russian, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese, with news websites in dozens of languages, also producing and distributing photo and video content and infographics, information products in social media, and content for mobile apps.
The two-day media forum, timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of establishment of the Soviet Information Bureau, which later evolved into Rossiya Segodnya, kicked off in Moscow on Monday. The event deals with the changing nature of contemporary journalism and is attended by media experts from over 30 countries.
