IRKUTSK (Sputnik) – The new Russian MC-21 mid-range airliner was first presented earlier in the day at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. Different modifications of the jet will be able to carry from 130 to 211 passengers.
"Supplies of first PD-14 engines of the Irkut corporation for testing MC-21 with Russian power units are planned till the end of 2017," the spokesperson said.
He said that the PD-14 engine was developed and was produced in Russia with only 5 percent of foreign components.
"In addition, all these 5 percent of details are not very critical and, if necessary, can be easily replaced [with Russian ones]. These are primarily transducers, bearings, seals, etc. There are no Ukrainian details," the spokesperson added.
Sales of MC-21 Airliners are expected to begin in 2019.
