MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Security team with sniffer dogs checked the Stade de France for explosives on Friday, just several hours before the beginning of the first match of the 2016 UEFA European Championship to be held at the French national stadium, media reported.
According to the International Sports Press Association, the stadium's media working room was combed section by section for 15 minutes after journalists were asked to leave the premises.
About 100,000 security personnel have been deployed to provide safety at the football championship amid state of emergency imposed in France after the November terrorist attacks in Paris that claimed lives of 130 people, including near Stade de France.
Earlier in the week, French President Francois Hollande confirmed the threat of terror attacks during the tournament.
