MOSCOW (Sputnik) — English and Russian football fans will follow different routes and enter the Marseilles stadium separately to avoid scuffles at the Euro 2016 game between their teams, French police said Saturday.

Teams England and Russia will face off Saturday evening at the Velodrome stadium in the southern French port city, which has seen three days of clashes between their supporters, French youths and police.

"Russian and English supporters will definitely use the following routes to access the stadium," a police prefect said in a communique that detailed the paths, as cited by France’s BFM TV channel.
According to the broadcaster police used tear gas to disperse crowds of rowdy football fans who started a brawl in the city’s Old Port drinking area on Saturday. No arrests were reported.
France remains on high alert following a string of terror attacks in Paris last November. In Marseilles, more than 1,000 police officers and 1,100 security agents will be deployed at the Velodrome stadium during the game.
