NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Indian President Shri Pranab Mukherjee congratulated Russians on Saturday on the upcoming national day and said the two countries shared a history of friendly relations.
Russians are preparing to mark the Day of Russia on Sunday that commemorates the adoption of a declaration on their sovereignty after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
"The friendship between our two nations has stood the test of time. I share your confidence that our bilateral relations will grow from strength to strength in the years to come," the Indian leader wrote in a message addressed to President Vladimir Putin.
President Mukherjee said that India deeply valued its privileged strategic partnership with Russia. He extended his greetings to the people of Russia and wished them continued progress and prosperity on behalf of all Indians.
