"You know that’s obviously pretty far-off. There are a lot of technology advances that are going to need to happen for that to be something safe to use, and something you’d actually want to do and all that," he stated, during a live Q&A videocast from his Facebook page. "But I do think in the future we will have the ability to just capture kind of a raw emotion or thought that we have, when you want and how you want, and of course it’s really important that people have the power to do this in the way that they want to be able to share that with other people."
The social-media mogul also told the newspaper that there is currently “crazy” research being conducted on how to make this happen, pointing to a California University at Berkeley experiment involving the use of a magnetic resonance imager (MRI), to read thought.
Zuckerberg discussed government researchers removing the memory of solving a maze from one rat’s brain and implanting it into the brain of another.
“Then that mouse, without ever having been through the maze, was able to go do it,” he said. “That’s just straight out of the Matrix, right?”
During the Q&A, the CEO, one of the wealthiest people in the world, revealed a New Year’s resolution he made to create artificial intelligence to manage his home. He is well on his way to his goal, he stated, and has installed a camera on his door that automatically allows in the Zuckerberg family, including himself and his wife.
